Dylan Strome has been recalled to Arizona from the Tucson Roadrunners. Strome, the 3rd overall pick in 2015, has been slower to develop than others from that draft but he still possesses elite skill. And that is something the Arizona Coyotes desperately need.
Many fans were disappointed by his demotion to the AHL after just two NHL games to start the season but team management wanted him to work on his foot and game speed. Strome made the most of it by absolutely blowing up the AHL. He has scored 8-18-26 in just 15 games. His 1.79 points per game is well ahead of anyone else in that league who has played more than 5 games.
What Is Next For Him
With the elite skill and hockey sense that he possesses, Strome will try to convey his AHL success to the NHL level. Assuming Rick Tocchet uses him as a top six forward and not a bottom 6 grinder expect him to score at a 0.5 point per game pace this year and to accelerate quickly next year to first line status with the Coyotes.
