Alex Burrows is likely to face the wrath of the NHL Player Safety Department after he responded viciously to being hit legally and cleanly by Taylor Hall.
Following the Hall hit Burrows followed hit to the net hooking and cross checking him to try to draw him into a fight. When Hall would not be baited Burrows went after him again after the whistle, throwing a number of punches to the back of his head, tackling him to the ice, and then, with Hall’s head on the ice, delivered two knees to his head.
Burrows has always been labelled a “pest” but he also has a history of crossing the line, often dangerously. The league is often soft on discipline if they feel it is a “hockey play”. In this case, with the visuals of this on every sportscast making the league look so bad, expect a suspension in the 8-10 game range.
